Cyclamen In a Vase on Monday

Cyclamen coum are coming into flower adding sugared almond type colours to the garden.  The leaves can be quite varied too, and some of them are described as having Christmas Tree patterns on them.  They wouldn't last long there as it is very sunny and warm there today.

To set them off in terms of size and colour  the small leaves of Cheilanthes lanosa which have soft grey felty leaves which probably earned it its name  'Hairy Lip Fern' were just the ticket.

The little triangular heavy based cut glass vase is one the smallest vases I have and it often sits on my kitchen window sill with small flowers.

It is far cooler there, and will be enjoyed for a few days, with a refresh later in the week.

This is being linked in to Cathy's post.  If you would like to join in by posting flowers from your garden, you will find any rules on Cathy's Blog.

  1. That small vase is perfect the sweet little flowers of Cyclamen. I too am a fan of the foliage. I had it growing around the base of some trees in a garden at the old house.

    1. Specialists are now selecting for leaf form, which I am pleased about. If I see a plant that particularly appeals, I get it.

    1. Yes and sugared almonds are one of my favourites. Pale yellow seems to be creeping into my mix this year too, a custardy hue!

  3. I think that the foliage is every bit as attractive as the flowers Noelle. There seems to be so much variation in the leaf patterns. For some reason your third photo doesn't appear on my screen. I'm guessing that reveals the vase 🤔

    1. It just shows the vase in my kitchen Anna, strange thing about the vase, I shall go in and reload and see if that changes things for you Anna.

  4. A little triangular vase is an asset I do not have in my vase collection! It mkes for a very sweet vase, especially with the variably coloured and patterned cyclamen leaves and flowers. You have made me realise I haven't inspected my C coum of late because I have been walking down the woodland path my specials instead - there are so many different ways of going round the garden I can sometimes miss things.
I think I mentioned before that I don't seem to be having notifications of your posts and I am sure I was previously 'following' you - but I have looked on your site and can't see anything to click to do so Am I missing omething?

    1. What? I thought you had just about every vase ever made, or so it seems Cathy! I'm not sure you were ever on the list, which you may join. It is right at the bottom of all the labels on the right hand side. I have kept to the same Blogspot platform since I started, and I know other platforms seem to change. I also have a regular reading list, maybe you had one and that had altered? Anyway, I post regularly on all sorts of topics. I shall have to show the little vase empty one day.

    2. It's odd, Noelle, because I know I have read many posts that were not IAVOM, which I get to from your comments on my blog - I will join/rejoin your list then! Thanks

  5. It's a sweet arrangement, Noelle. I love Cyclamen leaves even more than the flowers, which is a somewhat unusual confession from a flower addict like me.

  6. Very pretty Noelle, and a lovely sight on your windowsill while doing the washing up! I had my first ones ever flower this spring and I will certainly plant some in another spot as they are such welcome colour so early in the season.
