The Ginkgo Book Mark

 The Ginkgo Book Mark.

Last month we visited Watchet and enjoyed showing Jenny and Lluis one of our favourite local seaside towns, which we reached by steam locomotive.

The artist quarter at Watchet's 'East Quay Art Centre' includes Two Rivers  where they hand make paper in the traditional way.  We all found visiting this fascination as we were able ton watch paper being made.  They had some packs of off cuts and I picked up a couple. The book mark is made from a piece in the pack.

Carl is very talented in many ways, and to 'relax' from his main job he enjoys carving spoons, and here is my second spoon, which Jenny brought over.

Carl is a lover of things Japanese and has spent time over in Japan and can speak Japanese.  On the reverse of the Book Mark, I have written a dedication, and even managed to find how to write ' Ginkgo Tree in Japanese!  He will probably not understand my handwriting! I am sure that he will have seen many of the very old trees during his recent visits to Japan.

My little Ginkgo tree is settling in nicely, and having a fascination for these plants has continued to read up about them, and even followed a YouTube of how to draw them which led me making this book mark for Carl.

The leaves I drew were lying in the bottom of the delivery box, so no leaves were plucked harming the tree!
