In a vase on Monday - The Tuesday before Christmas

I had it all ready, to be truthful it was complete on Sunday, with photographs taken, but Monday went by in a blur....

Here is the vase, a heavy brass container of which I shall say a little more another time.  In went some greenery from the garden, mistletoe left over from my botanical art class, and some old man's beard gathered on our country walk.

We no longer put up a Christmas Tree which we gave away along with many of the decorations November 2023, and the Chimney Breast is now the focus of decorations...gradually some favourite old decorations were added. We also no longer send out Christmas Cards. I have over the last few years cut and cut, and this year went cold turkey!  We are not having any turkey either....

A couple of strings of lights  completes the look.

  1. It is a lovely Christmas arrangement Noelle, especially with the lighting. The old man's beard is really effective, giving it a snowy look. I hope you have something delicious instead of turkey, and enjoy a happy and peaceful Christmas with your loved ones.

    1. Thank you Cathy, we had duck. What was a particularly nice addition to our Christmas day is that on a long circular morning walk, we bumped into a friend who had just returned home and would be spending part of the day with her Mum in the nursing home, and we were all so pleased to be able to share our Christmas meal that evening.

  2. Oh Noelle - this is absolutely delightful! I love the whole effect, with the greenery and fluff and then the lights to enhance it further. Well done on going cold turkey - I am all for people having Christmas how they want it, with no pressure to do anything else just because it's traditional. How lovely to be able to spontaneously offer a meal to your friend as well. Best bishes to you both

  3. A beautiful arrangement Noelle. I love the way you have woven all the lights and little creatures into it along with the angel We have a simple and quiet Christmas these days and haven't tucked into turkey for years. I'm sure that you made your friends's day more joyous for her.
