After a few days away, and the start of the week when it was sunny, the garden had moved on and we were greeted with a lot of colour, including the apple blossom. My friend Maggie also a keen gardener, had been watering. Luckily I took pictures before the wetter, windier and cooler weather set in, but again this rain is very welcome after quite a few dry weeks. I'm joining in the weekly SOS get together over at Jim's.
1. I purposefully did not add any new auriculas to my collection this year. I could have, but I didn't! Maybe it is because I vowed I would have fewer plants in pots going forward. The ones I now have just fit nicely on the Shed Shelf.

4. The First Rose in bloom this year is the lovely single flowered Rosa Canary Bird. The branches spring about gently in a breeze adding a little animation to the garden.
5. Tiarella Spring Symphony is beautifully placed, as we sit in the conservatory to have our breakfast it appears to glow as it is backlit by the morning sun.
6. The Arum Lilies correctly named as Zantedeschia aethiopica, a long name which just doesn't stick in my head, are starting to open. I think the first couple of flowers are a little weather beaten!
What fabulous auricula, very pretty. Also love the violas, I have been trying to persuade JK not to weed kill all his in the lawn, I love them. Have a great week, Sis x
ReplyDeleteThanks Gill, I'm not sure how violas would work in a lawn, without mowing for a few weeks, maybe just a few in the beds would be a start.
DeleteSo lovely to see the first of the roses and a great colour too.
ReplyDeleteHow many times have I made that same vow about growing less things in pots? Every year for as far back as I can remember. Never happens.
ReplyDeleteIt is tricky to resist, but I have just given up vegetable growing, and had space to sink a few plants in there.
DeleteI'm glad you didn't add any more auriculas because your collection is already quite full. 😂 How pretty!
ReplyDeleteA very pretty rose : 'Rosa Canary Bird', with a single yellow flower. I hope it lasts a long time so you can enjoy them
Here, the arums are still in the leaf stage (nibbled by slugs and snails...).
The slugs and snails do love them, I agree.
DeleteLove the Pansies, and everything else! I just received a pot of Arum Lilies, and while I've always enjoyed them, as indoor and outdoor plants, this is my first experience with them in my own care. Wish me luck. They are lovely. Happy "Six"!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you will enjoy the Arums, you are a good gardener after all.
DeleteYou have a great collection of potted plants. I admire your resolve not to buy any more auriculas - they look rather tempting.
ReplyDeleteI frequently have to tell myself off when I look over auriculas which are not already in the garden, as you say they are tempting, but the garden is at capacity now.
DeleteI love to see your Auriculas on the white Shed Shelf. It’s a perfect presentation. The primula and violas on the round table are also beautiful. You have lovely violas in your borders too - I’m having to start over with mine, but I’m trying to grow from seed this time. Fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing your auriculas Noelle - well done on resisting any temptation that might have come your way to add more.I'm fond of violets, violas and pansies - all have their own attractions 😀
ReplyDeleteSo pleased you liked the auriculas Anna. Do you have any?
