Snowdrops - In a Vase on Monday

 Here is my little vase on the first day of February.  A few snowdrops brought in from my little clump of Lady Beatrix Stanley.  Thinking of  Anna whilst arranging this. There is a lot of symbolism associated with snowdrops: one of the them being sympathy and consolation

The Song of the Snowdrop Fairy

Deep Sleeps the Winter,

Cold, wet, and grey;

Surely all the world is dead;

Spring is far away

Wait! the world shall waken;

It is not dead, for lo,

The Fairs Maids of February

Stand in the Snow!

I am joining Cathy and other bloggers this Monday: do go and see what is up in our gardens this week.

  1. That is so lovely! I adore the flower fairy books and have them all! In fact I think I have included one or two in previous IAVOM posts! Love your snowdrops. I have some too in my IAVOM vase today but you can only see it on Instagram (amandagraham2050) as I am still without a blog! A

    1. I didn't realise there were separate flower fairy books. I have one with a picture and poem for each fairy, which I got when my little grand-daughter was just that age to enjoy them. Hope you get your blog back soon.

  2. I do love to see a little vase of snowdrops, and yours is so sweet, aptly accompanied by the appropriate fairy - this is a particularly pretty fairy, not as contrived as some of them...such a simple and demure figure in her pretty white dress

  4. I greatly appreciate the snowdrops those of you in the UK grow and share with such enthusiasm. I'm sure I'd grow them too if there was any chance at all of their survival here. You've displayed yours beautifully. You comment about Anna has me concerned for her, though.

    1. I have heard from Anna, and very happy to share with you that the 'absence' has been on account of dealing with a few birthdays, as well as keeping an eye out and preserving plants from the high levels of rain we have been having.

  5. Oh isn't Lady B doing coming along well in your garden Noelle. I love the flower fairies and not surprisingly the snowdrop fairy is one of my favourites 😂

    1. Yes, she is the best performing one, and isn't she graceful? I am starting to understand the ratios of petal lengths etc. Plenty to focus the mind.
