In a Vase on Monday - End of May

The weather is all askew: low light, high rainfall, high winds, low temperatures.  I might not have the quite the right names for all the flowers, but a vase is a vase, and we do have some flowers.  Here it is then...

Pelargonium Pink Capricorn can be spared as the plant has started blooming strongly.  white Centaurea montana 'Alba', Ceonothus repens which is blooming all around the front bay window, a stem of purple self seeded aquilegia, and some stems of a pink bistort probably a little like Persciaria bistorta 'Superba', are also in there.  I'm not sure how well the Ceonothus will hold, as I haven't tried it before.

Again I can't seem to do the arrangement justice with the camera, sorry about that.  It is quite pretty and we shall enjoy it in our living room.  I'll be linking in with Cathy, who have some special sweet peas in a delightful Caithness Vase.  Mine is also a smokey grey and purple Caithness Vase, and with its very heavy bottom make a lovely stable posy holder.

  1. I realise that one of the things I like about the Caithness Glass vases is their heavy bottoms, although I realise I might have taken that for granted - and of course there are lots of other reasons for liking it! I have Pink Capricorn (well I did, I hope it is one that is still with me!) too but none of mine in the Coop are flowering yet so it is lovely to see yours and irs assorted friends. Thanks for sharing

    1. My geranium Capricorn, one in the open just by the front door, and the other outside since it has frost free, are both doing well. Maybe they just had a hard winter and are happy to be past that.

  2. The arrangement is cheerful even if your weather isn't, Noelle, although I admit that, as summer's heat looms and we're dry as dust already, I'd rejoice to have both rain and low temperatures (or really either). I envy the Centaurea. Those I planted a year or more ago have never flowered, even though the foliage is present.

    1. Perhaps you could try a tomato feed on it, however it may be just the climate which is not to its liking.

  3. Yes the weather is definitely turned on it's head Noelle but hopefully should right itself later this week 😄 Some lovely flowers in your vase. I haven't seen my persicaria flower yet. Must have a peek before it gets dark.

  5. The Pelargomiun brightens the whole arrangement Noelle and it is very pretty in your dark vase. My persicaria isn't flowering yet, but things change daily in May so I will also check mine now!
