In a Vase on Monday - Light and Dark

The watering can is an indication of what I have had to do in the garden: watering, due to the lack of rain.  With a new garden, and plants yet to grown sufficient roots, hot sun, drying winds etc, watering is a plant saver.

As I went round the garden this morning, the curly edged wood sage: Teucrium scorodonia 'Crispum Marginatum' was looking pristine.  Close by one of the clumps of Centaurea Montana Alba and the purple leaved sage cried out to be selected.  Finally some leaves from a purple leaved heuchera helped to bring a rather light and dark arrangement together.

Looking forward to admiring some of the wonderful arrangements at the Malvern Spring Show on my special day out later in the week.

Having been over to view Cathy's IVOM today...her arrangement is by far a lighter and more pastelley affair.

  2. What a very handsome vase of flowers and foliage! Lovely colours in the leaves and I love the white centaurea. I have a very simple, but deliciously fragrant, offering this week! Amanda

  3. Oh your teeny tiny watering can is so sweet, Noelle - definitely something to covet!! And what a lovely selection of foliage, making he perfect dramatic foil for the centaurea. The crispy teucrium looks especially interesting and somethong to look out for. Very dry here too, but we did have some 'real' rain on Thurs/Fri which has helped

    1. That teucrium was a gift from AlisonC....I had coveted it for some time, and pointed it out to Alison when we were walking round the Bishop's Palace. Next time we met, I had a piece from her garden.

  4. Lovely arrangement. I especially love the Montana Alba. I've heard a lot about that plant lately and seeing yours, makes me want to go out and find one for my garden.

  5. The dark Heuchera leaves are magnificent with the white Centaurea, Noelle. I'm still (impatiently) watching and waiting to see if the white Centaurea I planted last year will bloom for me this year.

    Enjoy your outing!

    1. Don't overfeed or water it...and leave it plenty of room. It is slow the first year or two, your patience will be rewarded!

    1. Thanks, it is lovely. Nice to have something on the list when you go out hunting. I think I shall be splitting up my clump later this year...ready for any UK based visitors.

  7. I like the dramatic 'black and white' contrast, and the substantial leaves as a backdrop for delicate flowers.
