A few flowers to mark the last vase of February. Cathy is marking the rainy day with one of her special props as well as seasonal flowers....
Skimmia japonica, Narcissus Rip-van Winkle, Primula Lilac Lace, and a few leaves of Carex Ice Dance.
As I made up this arrangement on Sunday, I was thinking about today's adventure: visiting the underground Caves worn down by water with our geology group.
The little vase of cyclamen is still vibrant except for three blooms that started their curling of stems, showing that cyclamen are an excellent and long lasting small bloom for arrangements.
I love your narcissus! They sparkle with their pointy petals! I have one or two primula like yours. So pretty. They have just started to flower but something is finding them tasty, along with their neighbouring primula. Grrrr! Amanda https://therunningwave.blogspot.com/2020/02/in-vase-on-monday-namaste.html
ReplyDeleteSo sweet and pretty! Love that variety of narcissus!!!
ReplyDeleteA little ray of sunshine, much needed today!
ReplyDeleteOh I do hope you have had an exciting caving trip - how exciting! Rip Van Winkle look great in vase and I like the way the outer petals are suffesed with green to begin with. I have had this variety for my baskets at the front of the house before now so the bulbs will have been planted out somewhere where I hope they will flower again. Good idea to add some grasses to a vase - I need to make more use of mine
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathy...with the variety of grasses you have, there will be a good choice.
DeleteThe sense of movement in this arrangement is wonderful, Noelle. The addition of the dark Primula keeps it grounded even through the Narcissus looks as though it wants to fly away. I'm in love with that Narcissus and will be looking for bulbs next year.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kris, the flowers can be quite heavy and best position the bulbs where they won't be too much wind. What I like about this one there is no strong pollen smell...and I can tolerate it in a room unlike the ones with open cuts. Not so good for the bees though.
DeleteI like the look of 'Rip Van Winkle' Noelle and what a fine primula.
ReplyDeleteA delightful homage to spring Noelle. (Love the cave photos too.)
