Cathy who collects us all under her wing found an extra post necessary and if a friend with a broken bone can find a way to post, I felt that at the last minute I too ought to make an effort:
to at least take a picture of the alliums that are like large wands or maybe large indoor fireworks.
The day promised some sunshine so we have spent most of the day out, with a picnic on the coast after a walk along Brean Down which is a high limestone promontory jutting out into the sea. With wonderful views out to sea and along the coast.
No plant was picked but many admired...
May the New Year and decade be kind to you all....with my very best wishes.
Alliums have a lot to offer year-round! I've never had much luck growing them but admire them greatly. The tree in your photos looks as if it would have stories to tell.
ReplyDeleteAliums make perfect 'fireworks' to celebrate a new year! I hope 2020 is a good start to a new decade for you, and all IAVOM bloggers!! Amanda https://therunningwave.blogspot.com/2019/12/the-christmas-underdog-vase-on-monday.html
ReplyDeleteThe dried Alliums look fantastic, Noelle. I've repeatedly tried to grow Alliums, trying several varieties with generally poor results. At best one or 2 out of dozen or more survive to bloom a second year.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for a wonderful new year!
Best wishes to you and thanks for your enjoyable and upbeat posts.
ReplyDeleteAllium seedheads are wonderful aren't they, even if the unpicked ones drop hindreds of seeds into your borders and create endless progeny to weed out! What a lovely walk you must have had and what glorious weather we have had recntly for getting out and about. Is that Iris foetidissima in the last photo?
ReplyDeleteYou are right about the iris, which shone out in the scrubland along our steep climb.
DeleteAaaaaw - thanks for the mention Noelle :) I love the dried alliums. I think that I'm in need of some sea breezes. Wishing you all the best for 2020 and happy gardening.
DeleteYou have been so brave Anna....a little time watching the waves and smelling the sea is part of the prescription for a good recovery. Best wishes for the New Year. Your snowdrops are showing.
