In a vase on Monday - Bleeding Hearts and Baby clothes

Remaining cool and collected that is what we ought to do. .....

I am finding comfort in my regular home activities.  One being of course the weekly flower arranging and post.  The weather is glorious: bright and clear, a little on the cool side, which is my favourite type of day.

Centaurea montana alba,

Brunnera macrophylla 'Jack Frost' little forget m enot blue flowers

Hylotelephium erythrostictum 'Frosty Morn'

Lamprocapnos spectabilis Alba

The star performer happens also to be one of the most attractive plants in the conservatory border this week.  Much easier to say is "White Bleeding Heart".  Its flowering stems from which exquisite white blooms hang,  arch gracefully sometimes half hidden by the bright green foliage.

Many of us are putting on a brave face and adjusting to the new regime.  I realise that things out there are extremely serious, and for some very hard and dangerous.....

Another diversion has been 'emergency' knitting for twins boys yet to be born:all the baby merino yarn was already in my stash.

I may yet knit a full sized kimono jacket for myself.  The colours just happen to match the vase today, so I felt it had a place.

Cathy will be rallying  several of us...and for a few moments we can loose ourselves in the beauty of home grown blooms.

  1. Love all the blue and white, floral and woolly! Beautiful flowers, and blue for the forthcoming twin boys! Love the kimono jacket, it's really adorable! I have twin grandsons (and twin granddaughters, and twin girl and boy - all with the same mum) so I always enjoy twin stuff! I have a little stem of forget me not today! 1. I would have liked to do the white kimono with blue edge, and a blue one with white edge, but do not have sufficient yarn. What a lovely armful of twins you are grandma to. Is that six children?

  2. Everything about this vase is appealing, Noelle, from the vase itself to the separate components, and of course the blue and white colour scheme - and you have such a good eye for putting everything together. I noticed my white centaurea has bulked up well but still no flowers and my red dicentra is in bud but later than usual. You have been busy with your knitting and I hope the twins arrive safely in due course. I have been dithering over some Harris tweed I bought when we were out there 5 years ago but because it was expensive I want to make sure I make something I will definitely wear and that will fit properly... Thanks for sharing such a pretty vase today, Noelle

    1. I do admire beautifully made things and you will surely be inspired soon regarding your length of Harris Tweed. I am sure there will be all manner of smaller things you will find to make with the scraps too. I have seen some beautiful bags, hats etc. Regarding plants, I think geography has a lot to do with it.

  4. In my small garden this is just one of my favourites. I do have the red one but it is getting a little crowded out by some other plants. Maybe I ought to move in for next year.

    1. It has taken years...to be able to knit something this simple. Lacy things are much easier!

  7. The vase with its white/green contents is stunning! I particularly loved the white centaurea - must watch out for that one! And sweet clothes for the twins. You are not only handy with the knitting needles but also have a really good eye for colour.

    1. Thanks Cathy...the white centaurea stays quite short unlike a blue one I used to have.

  9. Oh blue and white look so attractive Noelle both when it comes to flowers and baby knits.
White dicentra and brunnera 'Jack Frost' are spring time favourites here although my brunnera is rather shy when it comes to flowers this year. Sounds as if we enjoy the same sort of weather 😄
